Hans Rosling: Asia's rise -- how and when

When he was young, he went to India for exchange program. This experience changed his mindset. It changed his ideas about the world. Though he was study nerd in Sweden, Indian students there were much smarter than him. It was brutal realization for him.

In this speech, he explained the trend of life expectancy and income level of US, UK, Japan, India, and China. It is surprising that big gap exists within the states meanwhile big gaps exists between the states (provinces) in China. After investigation of trend, he predicted that the average income of China & India will catch up with US, UK, and Japan on 27th July 2048, on his 100th birthday! lol

R.A. Mashelkar: Breakthrough designs for ultra-low-cost products

He is suggesting to produce the values for many people. He explained this idea with Nano making story. Nano was manufactured by Tata. The project began with 5 engineer team and vehicle was not defined but cost was defined - 100,000 rupees. (Approximately 2,000 US dollars) The average ages of team was 27 and the age of team leader was only 34. In order to make incredible low-cost car, this project sought the solutions from even non-automobile sectors. For example, mechanism of helicopter seats and windows were used. Dashboard was inspired by two wheelers.

Sir Frances Bacon said
"When you wish to achieve results that have not been achieved before, it is an unwise fancy to think that they can be achieved by using method that have been used before"

To make impossible project to possible, we need to be innovative.

Mahatma Gandhi said
"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed"
"I would prize every invention of science made for the benefit for all"

Mashelkar called "Gandhian engineer" - engineers who produce the values for many people.
